How to Use Advion Cockroach Gel: Step-by-Step Placement Guide
Share
Advion Cockroach Gel Bait is one of the most widely used cockroach baits by pest professionals. But like any bait, it only works well when it is used correctly. This guide shows you how to use Advion cockroach gel step by step, from preparation to reapplication.
What you need
- Advion Cockroach Gel Bait syringe (30g)
- Applicator tip (included with every Roachora order)
- Protective gloves (free with every Roachora order)
- A torch to check dark corners
Step 1: Read the label
Before anything else, read the full product label. It tells you how much to apply, where it can be used and the safety precautions. Always follow the label.
Step 2: Prepare the area
- Clean up food crumbs, grease and spills so the bait is the most attractive food
- Remove items from cabinets you will treat
- Stop using insecticide sprays in the areas you will bait. Spray contaminates the gel
- Don't clean the bait spots with strong cleaners afterwards
Step 3: Attach the tip and put on gloves
Remove the cap, attach the applicator tip securely and wear gloves. The fine tip lets you place gel deep into narrow cracks.
Step 4: Find the hiding spots
Cockroaches hide in dark, warm, tight spaces close to food and water. Focus on:
- Cabinet hinges and inside corners
- Under the sink and where pipes enter the wall
- Behind and under the fridge, oven and dishwasher
- Cracks along skirting boards and around door frames
- Around bathroom drains and behind the toilet
For a complete room-by-room list, read where to apply cockroach gel: 12 hiding spots.
Step 5: Apply small dots, not lines
Press gently to place small, pea-sized dots of gel into cracks and corners. Many small dots spread around the hiding areas work better than a few large blobs. Use more spots in areas with heavy activity and fewer where activity is light, as the label directs.
Don't spread gel across open surfaces, food preparation areas or places that are cleaned often.
Step 6: Leave it alone
Let the cockroaches find and eat the bait. You may see more cockroaches out in the open for a few days. That is a normal sign the bait is working. Read why you see more cockroaches after using gel.
Step 7: Check and reapply
Check the spots every few days. If the gel has been eaten, apply fresh dots. Keep checking until you no longer see activity. For a realistic timeline see how long cockroach gel takes to work.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Spraying insecticide on or near the gel
- Using too few spots, or one big blob
- Applying on surfaces that get wiped daily
- Leaving lots of other food around
- Stopping too early when you still see a few cockroaches
Storage and safety
Replace the cap after use and store the syringe in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and pets. Place bait only where children and pets cannot touch or eat it, and wash your hands after applying. See our safety guide.
